Working mom wednesday...

It's Working Mom Wednesday and this is my first time participating in the weekly prompt. I think this week's is quite fitting seeing that I'm a mom and I work full time AND I'm getting ready to start my new job.

Does having a career/job make me a better or worse mother?
This one is easy....Better. I don't think I'm cut out to be a SAHM. Don't get me wrong, I love my daughter and would love to be able to spend more time with her. However, I also need adult conversations, clothes that don't get covered in spit-up every few hours and the ability to leave the room without lugging my 20-pound child with me for safe keeping.

If anything, I wouldn't mind keeping her in daycare full-time so I can work part-time and then come home and actually get housework done. What a novel idea...a clean house...interesting.....

Anyway, for those of you who are keeping track (or care), today is day 8!

  1. I love having grown-up conversations...that was one thing I really missed when I was a SAHM. I'm with you on the clean house - I haven't seen that recently...hmmm... Following you from WMW.

  2. Theresa- Yet again your admission has made me feel better. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one (HORRIBLE mother) who, if given the chance, would rather not stay at home all the time. I'm so glad to know there are others out there who feel the same as I do.

  3. There are many of us out there who *prefer* to work, and are not afraid to say it (most of the time). Good for you. We should be proud to know that we have chosen the path that is best for us and our kids. :)

  4. Part of the reason I work from home is because I could not just be home without working. So I hear you on the not being cut out to be a SAHM

  5. I wish I could work from home and have a home business that maybe one day will afford me that opportunity, but for now I'm not ashamed to admit that my health insurance is too good to pass up. Hubby's is way expensive for family coverage and not that great. So call me shallow, but yes, I'll take it.

Good luck at the new job!

  9. Part of raising a well adjusted child REQUIRES well adjusted & happy parents. A mother who takes care of herself & her needs is not a selfish mother, but a mother who is putting the long term health & wellness of her child first & sometimes that requires the mother to be a SAWM! :)
